Blessing: God’s Call to the Church

What is God Doing During the Pandemic?

Since the shut down, various groups of my friends have been asking,

“What is God doing?”
“What is the new normal for the Church?”
“How is He calling us to a higher place?”

Earlier this week I posted The Bay Area Blessing and told of how I’ve been singing this wonderful song over my family and more recently over the turmoil of our nation. I suggested this might be a way for the Church to have a positive impact on the pain being felt and now expressed.

The Blessing” is a song released by Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes and Elevation Worship on March 20, 2020.

During the pandemic!

During the time when the entire world was suffering.
During the time when the entire world was gripped in fear and uncertainty.

In the two months since it’s release, groups of sheltering-in-place Christians have been releasing this sound all over the world!

It’s been more contagious than the virus.

Could it be that THIS is what God is calling the Church to?
To Blessing…?

Could it be that God is calling the Church to rise up, not in fear.
Not in anger.
Not even in discontent.
But in BLESSING?

Could He be calling us to simply sing our song of blessing over the earth.
Over the pandemic?
Over injustice?
Over riots and anger?
Over fear?
Over job loss and business loss and financial concerns?

What would happen if we were to take the message of Blessing to our little corner of the world?

What would if our local churches and Christian groups were to sing Blessing over our cities?
Over our nation?
Over our families?
Over our police and first responders?
Over our medical personnel?

Over President Trump? (Whether we like him or not, whether we agree with him or not, he is appointed by God for this time–see Romans 13:1-6).
Over his advisors and cabinet?
Over his family?
Over the Secret Service men and women protecting him?
Over the decisions that are being made?
Over the communication that comes from the White House?

Over Congress?
Over each Representative and Senator?
Over Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell?
Over The Supreme Court?

Over our states and our state officials?
Over our governors?
Over our legislatures?
Over our Cities?
Over our mayors and police forces and fire departments?

Over those people and families who have lost loved ones?
Over those who are still suffering?
Over those who are protesting and in pain?
Over those who are still being required to shelter in place?
Over those who are still not being allowed to worship in community?

Over our families?
Over our marriages?
Over our children and their children and their children and their children?
Over their destinies?

He is blessing you.
He loves you.
HE IS FOR YOU!
And He has a destiny for you and your family to 1000 generations.

Church, this is God’s call to us in this time.

Not to condemn.
Not to criticize.
Not to harm people or property.
Not to take a political stand.

Simply to release the blessing and the favor of the Lord over every place we come and go.
Over every need He brings to mind.
Over every hurt.

To be salt and light in a troubled world.

To be Kingdom Carriers in a world that seems dominated by the enemy.
(But isn’t…)

To be contagious!
A contagious sound.
A contagious sound of restoration and healing.

To walk in unity.
Locally.
Nationally.
Worldwide.

Arise, Church! The war isn’t over.
The Rapture most likely won’t come next week.
We have work to do.
The work of blessing. Blessing. Blessing.
The work of communicating the character of God.
He isn’t mad at us.
He loves us.
He is for us.
He is for YOU.

Now go. Be a blessing.
Sing a blessing.
Pray a blessing.
Serve with blessing.
Love with blessing.

I agree with you, Pat! Knowing that this endeavor took 3 years to organize, and now it is going viral during these troubling times. Only God could see these days coming.
